Reading: We began learning about how readers make connections while reading text. We realized that this is not as easy as it sounds! Ask your student about connections that they are making at home during reading. The more practice the better!
Math: We are rocking through our multiplication unit! This week, we learned how to use our strategies to multiply 2-by-2 digit numbers. Have your student show you the area model!
Writing: Have your student tell you about their "October Month Piece".

**We are in need of a parent or parents that would be willing to be our official "Room Parent". You would be in charge of coordinating our holiday parties, as well as helping with any other events that come along our way. Room Parents from the other 4th grade classes have started their planning for the Halloween Party on the 31st. Please let me know if you are interested in this important role and I will pass along your information to the other Room Parents. THANK YOU!

PAW PARTY!
Our class has earned our very first Paw Party for the year. Throughout the year, our class will work together to earn purple paws. We can earn these by being a caring and responsible community that looks out for each other! We decided to tie in our Paw Party with the celebration of finishing our first read aloud Holes. We had so much fun sharing this book together! We are planning on watching the movie Holes next Wednesday. This will be a great opportunity to compare a book to a movie! Students may wear comfortable clothing (preferably not pjs), bring a small stuffed animal, and a special snack. This movie is rated PG. If you have any concerns about your student viewing this movie, please do not hesitate to contact me!
